Privacy Policy

This policy explains how ControlByte Solution ("we") handles information in the Billing & Accounts desktop app and on this website (controlbyte.in).

1. Your business data stays with you

Billing & Accounts runs on your own computer. Your bills, parties, items, stock, payments and settings are stored only in a database on your computer. We do not run any server that receives, stores or reads this data, and we never sell or share it.

2. Google Drive backup (optional)

If you choose Connect Google Drive, the app asks Google for the drive.file permission. With it, the app can only see and change the files it creates itself, not any other file in your Drive.

• The app creates one folder, BillingAppBackup, with one backup file of your data in your own Google Drive.
• The Google sign-in token is saved only on your computer. It is not sent to us.
• The backup goes directly from your computer to Google. ControlByte Solution cannot access your Drive or your backup.
• You can disconnect at any time in the app (Utilities → Backup & Sync → Disconnect), and remove access in your Google Account under Security → Third-party apps with account access.

The app's use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

3. Update check

The app checks controlbyte.in for a newer version. This request contains only the app's version number. Like any website, our server may log the IP address and time of the request; these logs are used only to keep the server running and are not linked to any person or business data.

4. Optional online services you set up yourself

If you enter your own API keys for a GSTIN lookup service or a GST Suvidha Provider (GSP) in Settings, the app sends the GSTIN or e-way bill details you request directly to that provider. Their own privacy policies apply.

5. This website

This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies. If you contact us by WhatsApp, email or the enquiry form, we use your message only to reply to you.

6. Children

The app and website are meant for businesses and are not directed at children.

7. Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with a new date.
